Is Apple killing innovation?

While I was exploring the world of WordPress, I stumbled upon a blog post about the Samsung Apple case. The blog post was titled Apple Wins in Court; Innovation Loses. What interested me the most about this blog was the title. Apple is known as one of the most innovative companies in the world…are they really going out of their way to restrict other companies from creating new products? As I continued to read the post, I realized the author had the wrong company. Apple did not create patent laws. Yes, Apple has patented anything and everything they have ever created, but why wouldn’t they? Competitors would jump on the opportunity to replicate an Apple product if the legal system was not preventing them from doing so. I think the real question is, why is it so easy to obtain a patent? And should a patent prevent companies from enhancing a product even if they do not have a patent for it?
